Pattern Language Recognition and Generation

چکیده
A k-bounded recognizable pattern language is the set of all k-bounded patterns that are obtained as behaviors of a pattern automaton. The emptiness and the equality problems for k-bounded behaviors of pattern automata are proved to be decidable. Moreover, we examine their relationship with context free pattern grammars, which are basically the hyperedge replacement grammars on planar directed acyclic graphs. An important result is that the classes of k-bounded recognizable and context free pattern languages are cones with respect to (k-bounded) pattern transductions. Pattern automata are also used to study 0-type grammars and word rewriting systems. It is proved that the emptiness problem is decidable for the set of k-bounded derivations of a 0-type grammar and that k-bounded confluence and k-bounded termination are decidable for word rewriting systems.

According to a basic prediction made by the Revised Hierarchical Model (RHM), at early stages of language acquisition, strong L2-L1 lexical links are formed. RHM predicts that these links weaken with increasing proficiency, although they do not disappear even at higher levels of language development. To test this prediction, two groups of highly proficie...
متن کاملFuzzy handwriting description language: : FOHDEL
In this paper we present a new fuzzy language } FOHDEL } for the syntactic description of handwritten symbols. The presented language incorporates the fuzzy logic techniques to describe the syntactic relations of the semantic features extracted from a symbol pattern. A FOHDEL rule-base represents the compact feature information extracted from a small number of character prototypes and covers va...
متن کاملChoosing the content of textual summaries of large time-series data sets
Natural Language Generation (NLG) can be used to generate textual summaries of numeric data sets. In this paper we develop an architecture for generating short (a few sentences) summaries of large (100KB or more) time-series data sets. The architecture integrates pattern recognition, pattern abstraction, selection of the most significant patterns, microplanning (especially aggregation), and rea...
متن کاملPattern Recognition for Candidate Generation in the Game of Shogi
Chess has been an important research area in Arti cial Intelligence for decades. It seems that the strongest programs will soon play better than the best experts, so it is time to look at other game domains as possible test domains for AI research. We feel that shogi is well suited for this, because it is similar to chess, yet signi cantly different. In this paper we give the main differences b...
متن کاملEvaluative Pattern Extraction for Automated Text Generation
Getting travel tips from the experienced bloggers and online forums has been one of the important supplements to the travel guidebook in the web society. In this paper we present a novel approach by identifying and extracting evaluative patterns, providing a different linguistically-motivated framework for automated evaluative text generation. We target at domain-specific observation in online ...
متن کاملVisual Synthetic Data Generation for Sign Language Recognition
One of the essential steps in pattern recognition is having a training set that contains diversity of exemplars. This step is a major obstacle in sign language recognition. The availability of large public corpus with diversity of examples is limited due to the large number of degrees of freedom inherent in sign language hand gestures and the major variances between different signers. This caus...
